The Diani Regatta 2023 is history. We had a real blast last sunday attending. Sadly our boat was late for the pre-heats so we only could enter the final on a wildcard without being in competition. But anyway: it wasn’t about winning but attending in the first place.
Besides the races – three pre-heats and a final run – there was a lot ongoing on the premises of our host Safari Beach Hotel. Local food was served and dances from the Mjikenda culture were shown. One could purchase colorful fabrics and beats produced by local craftsmen. Acrobats and a fashion show rounded the whole day of.
Every participating team got a small recognition and the winners were awarded by Kenya’s ex-president Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta.
